Heat & Temperature
Messing Around:
QUESTIONS
As you go through the projects, USE YOUR HEAD.
Make a list of your questions and keep asking them.
Questions:
Here are some questions you should always be thinking about:
- Am I being safe?
- What is the point of this activity and this step?
- What is the difference between heat and temperature?
- Where is the energy and where does it go?
- What is happening at the atomic level?
- What is confusing?
Some questions about sensors:
- Which sensor was easiest to use?
- What sensor was most/least sensitive to temperature?
- What sensors seemed linear? (Changed the same amount between cold and
warm cups as between warm and hot cups.)
- How could you convert the values you recorded into temperatures?
Questions about calibration:
- How may the calibration curve be used to determine temperature?
- Over what range of temperatures do you need accurate calibration?
- How can you keep errors to a minimum?
- How much data will you need?
Questions about heat flow:
- When heat flows from A to B, does the temperature of B increase as much
as the temperature of A decreases?
- How does the temperature change during melting?
