Hands On Physics

This is a list of tools & materials needed for messing around.

Materials

• the LVPS built earlier can be used here or two 9-volt batteries and battery clips
• a Protoboard (Experimenters Socket)
• a 741 Operational Amplifier
• a 10 Megohm Potentiometer (variable resistor)
• one light source (flashlight or battery and bulb or...)
• two photoresistors
• one photovoltaic cell
• one photodiode
• several Light Emitting Diodes (LED's)
• 2 BIC pen bodies
• wrapping paper tube
• plunger and plunger handle
• water and "scattering particles" (MILK!)
• small piece of cardboard
• diffraction grating
• slit
• Filters
• Diffraction grating
• slit

Tools you should have in your tool box:

• glue gun
• a multimeter
• wire strippers
• red hookup wire and black hookup wire
• electrician's tape
• soldering iron with solder

Tools you may have to borrow:

• Meter stick
• Pencil or Marking pen
• Slide projector or overhead projector
• Graduated cylinder (100ml)

A tool you will have to build

• A Light Probe constructed and calibrated
